Terrance Hough

Apparently, the OJ Simpson jury had a nice vacation in Cleveland. 12 morons decided not to give Terrence Hough (the fire fighter who killed three people and injured two last july 5th) the death penalty.

He killed three young adults who were making noise after midnight. He decided to grab a fucking 40 caliber and shoot 5 unarmed people, because calling the police and have these guys arrested apparently was too light of a punishment, right? … Terrance Hough Jr. bent the stem of the witness stand microphone toward himself, cleared his throat and unfurled a list of apologies, typed entirely in capital letters.

To his family and friends… to his fellow firefighters… to the community he was sworn to protect. And to the families of the three people he killed and the two he wounded in a barrage of hollow-point bullets.

Hough delivered his unsworn statement in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Wednesday. The jury that convicted him of three counts of aggravated murder and two counts of attempted murder must now decide whether to recommend a death sentence. They could opt for life in prison without parole or life with the chance to apply for parole in 25 or 30 years.

Defendants in capital murder cases may read an unsworn statement without facing cross-examination by prosecutors. The victims were identified as Jacob Feichtner, 24, who lived at the house where the party was taking place; Katherine M. Rosby, 26, of Lakewood; and Bruce R. Anderson, 30, of Parma.

Judy Hough’s words tumbled from her mouth in a tangle of sobs and whimpers, her hands quivering like birds searching for a place to land.

“Oh God, please!” she wailed from the witness stand as she begged for her son’s life. “He has two kids. He’ll never see them again. Please, I beg of you! Oh God, please!”

The mother of Cleveland firefighter Terrance Hough Jr. implored Cuyahoga County jurors to have mercy on her son as they began the sentencing phase of Hough’s capital murder trial Tuesday.

Awww, someone’s upset. I’ll cry a tear for you, maybe in the meantime you could take some classes about how real journalists write stories.

Have they sent the jury to deliberate yet in this case? I thought that the prosecution was still presenting it’s case, which means that the defense hasn’t had a chance to present it’s side. As far as I know the jury cannot be sent to deliberate until after both sides have presented….at least that is how I thought that our justice system works.

  4. AlexsMom July 24th, 2008 at 6:02 pm

Never mind, I guess that they are only deliberating on whether or not he gets probation, sorry.

  5. AlexsMom July 24th, 2008 at 6:20 pm

Parole, not probation. However, why is In Session on Tru TV still covering the story like it is happening now if this trial is old? I am so confused, can anyone shed some light on this?

  6. Cheila July 24th, 2008 at 7:11 pm

No one deserved to die that night; it goes without saying. But I’ve no doubt these were punk kids who thought neither law nor even common courtesy applied to them. The local police who failed to issue fines/citations in relation to the repeated noise or firework code violations have blood on their hands as well. Add the father who failed to raise his children with even the slightest concern or regard for others to that list, too. He has truly reaped that which he has sown.

  7. jason t July 24th, 2008 at 7:36 pm

let him go and just kill 3 of his family members and two friends to make it even or be a man and kill yourself. MURDERERNEEDS TO DIE !!!!

  8. Sandra July 24th, 2008 at 9:01 pm

    To Alexsmom,

Tru TV covers trials that have already taken place most of the time. It is actually rare that there is a live trial going on. They usually take one or two trials and cover them throughout the week and then show the verdict and sentencing on Friday. Only really high profile cases are shown live. Hope this helps.

  9. Jim19642000 July 25th, 2008 at 3:30 am

I thought this case was recent as well. I’m reading where this happened like a few months ago. I’m confused as well.

  10. janelynn July 25th, 2008 at 1:40 pm

Amen to the writer who said Hough tried legal avenues, like calling the police; the minute you do that, the police peg you as a troublemaker and all future calls are blown off. It’s impossible to perform your job when you’ve had only three or four hours’ sleep. Plus, these were young adults, old enough to understand that this man was desparate for his sleep. That said, he deserves to be convicted on first degree murder charges, and the young people who brought it on can even it out with their God, same as Hough has to.

This guy should be led to the death chamber by a marching band..Killed three people for lighting jumping jacks and firecrackers on the 4th of july..Insane..You cant blame his mother for wanting him to get off easy but jeez..HE KILLED THREE PEOPLE FOR FIREWORKS ON THE 4TH OF JULY..let him out and see how many people he kills on new years when they blow horns at midnight..

  12. Becky Pfeiffer July 27th, 2008 at 2:12 pm

    To Imbecile Cheila:
You have no idea that you are such a complete moron, and that your idiotic comments are distasteful, and ignorant. To call these kids “punks”, and to call into question Mr. Feichtner’s raising of his children is pure verbal bashing–that YOU deserve for going on a public post like this, without knowing the facts of this case, as I DO, because I am Bruce Anderson’s mother.

    To BG:
Thank YOU! I would be glad to give you the real facts that surround the vicious carnage caused by Hough. To add to your “marching band” comment: I hope Hough meets a bully like himself named “Tiny”, and is passed around for cigarettes! The next female Hough will be seeing is himself!

I recently started watching the in session I have to admit I am captivated by it as I am with criminal justice. I really don’t think morally that anyone should be able to decide when someone dies, but Hough threw that out the window when he took three and tried for two more. If this is what the families want then he should face his death. How can we give a man who killed 3 what he wants? A jury wasn’t present when these 3 people were mercilessly shot and killed. I hope the families of the victims have some peace with whatever the outcome is.

  14. elvie1016 July 30th, 2008 at 12:52 am

My heart goes out to you and the other famiies of the three who were brutally killed that 4th of July. Not one soul has a right to take anothers life. “Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord” I am sure Mr. Hough will pay for his wrong doing. I do, however, believe he did snap as they say he did.

I have a comment about what you wrote. Your last paragraph leaves little to be desired. In my opinion, you are placing yourself as low for suggesting what might or could happen to him. Remember if he lands on death row, he will not be among other inmates, so your wish would not be granted. In addition, you place yourself in the same category as Cheila by calling her such a name. This is a free country and she has a right to verse her opinion whether you or anyone else likes it or not.

  15. Diane July 30th, 2008 at 1:10 am

My Heart goes out to the victims and the family of the victims. I Know what it’s like to live next door to an unstable supposedly pillar of the comunity! In my case my neighbor is an officcer of the law. He feels everyone should be in bed by 8:0 pm on ANY given night. and has no tolerence for noise of any kind Seeing this just let me see how easily this could have been our own situation by someone you would never believe would break the law or betray the public which they have sworn to help. To the family of the victims, just know that he will live to reap all that he sowed, so in my opionion, the death penalty would have let him off easily. I do believe he will live in hell everyday the he is still on this earth.

  16. Jill July 30th, 2008 at 6:17 am

my heart goes out to Ms. Pfeiffer as well as the other victims familes…I can’t imagine what they have gone through for the past year…I have been watching the trial every day…I can’t believe that anyone would come on here and bash the victims…Bruce Anderson had never been to this house before…ever …and the last call for “noise” was like 2 years before….get a damn sound machine people!! neighbors make noise….some day his young children would have been making that same “sinful” noise while playing basketball, etc…they just weren’t old enough yet……this man murdered these children in cold blood…end of story…..I am sick of hearing this “snapped” crap….he was clearly, painfully unstable……my husband is a physician and works hours that you can not even imagine and has been awakened many times by neighbors, phone ringing at all hours, dogs barking, etc in the last 20 years….not once has he ever “snapped” and gone out and killed 3 innocent kids and wounded 2…….you would think after the 1st damn shot something might have “snapped” his psycho ass back into reality but it didn’t….he kept on……no excuse for what he did and it is sickening…I don’t care if he was the Pope(feel quite confident the Pope will NEVER snap!!!)….he deserved the death penalty…the defense’s arguement that this was just 15, 20 seconds of his life versus 36 years of doing good was an insult….look at the damage in those 15 seconds????those 15 seconds took 3 young people’s lifes…..years and years of life that they will miss here with their familes, future spouses, future children etc…..nothing can replace that!!! Terry Hough did this to himself….having him “around” for his children is scary….what kinds of things can he “teach” them while being in prison??? if you get angry at someone just go and shoot them!?????I will be praying for the families to find some peace in this outcome….so sorry for your loss!!

What a load of crap. The title of firefighter kills three is bull. Who cares what he did for a living? How can you justify it because he saved lives in the past. How could it be that none of the neighbors had a problem with the boys but, none of they seem to have a close relationship with the Hough family? I would not care if they had fired the fireworks AT the Hough house he did not have the right to kill them. His attorney says they there was no premeditation. How can you say that? If the fireworks were so loud that Hough could not sleep what was he doing up in his room? Sounds to me like he had plenty of time to sit there and think about it and the more he thought about it the more mad he got. If he did not intend to kill anyone why did he walk out the door with a loaded gun? What the hell is wrong with someone who has to carry a gun on him when ever he leaves the house? As far as I am concerned he and his wife should be brought up on charges of child endangerment for having a loaded gun in the kitchen as well as others in the house. They say it was on an upper shelf but guess what kids learn to climb. Not to mention the hollow point ammo, you do not use that unless you intend to kill. Even if the point is for home security you can wound the invader not kill him!

  19. KYM July 30th, 2008 at 7:46 pm

    Mrs. Pfeiffer,

I can’t imagine your pain nor do I want to try but my prayers go out to you and all the families involved in this senseless tragedy. Did Terri Hough snap as they say, only he will know the answer to that. But lives were destroyed and forever changed in those few seconds when he went outside and fired that gun. I pray all of the victims’ families will find peace and I include Mr. Hough’s family as victims.

  24. Camille August 5th, 2008 at 5:31 pm

I live near a college community. There are times when they get loud & I want to slap them silly. The parties, the drinking & the noise was at times unbearable. I get along with my neighbors now because I took the initiative to get to know them and let know that I was not going to put up with their crap, but neither was I going to give them a hard time. One of the young guys is extremely mannerable. He is the one I befriended. He keeps the others in line. He even gave me his cell number to call him if they ever get too loud again. You find a way to get along. There is never a justification for killing noisy neighbors.

  25. Joan Reynolds August 5th, 2008 at 10:30 pm

Becky…God bless you…and those with a brain. If you are going to comment at least do a little research.
Those kids had normal activity at “their” house, not even ONE other neighbor had even ONE complaint against the Feichner’s. They were nice young people, innocent and valued to society, unlike that animal who took them from their loved ones!

It seemed clear to me considering the demenor of Regina Hough (the wife) that she must have kept that “nut case” husband of hers riled all the time. She seemed a mean, loud and vicious unhappy woman. Terry Hough is a coward and a disgrace to humanity. He was pissed because he had to live in the city and took it out on innocent young people. He will pay dear in prison, I hope!

  26. Joan Reynolds August 5th, 2008 at 10:39 pm

    Jill…..great post…..lol…… and ditto!

  27. Lovey August 6th, 2008 at 5:48 am

Camille, thank you for pointing out that we must make an effort to get along with our neighbor which sometimes means going the extra mile.

It amazes me how people can justify their hatred, disrespect and disregard for their fellow human beings. I am even more amazed at those who would never kill like Terrance Hough did, but can somehow “understand” why he did what he did.

Joan, I wish their was a pain that Terrance Hough could endure that could come close to the pain that he caused his victims and their families. But since I know that his pain will NEVER come close to their pain, I must trust that God will pay him dearly.

  28. Cris August 7th, 2008 at 4:50 pm

I have to say that Jill said it all I could not have said it any better. Mrs. Pfeiffer don’t listen to some of those people out there especially elvie1016 there are people out there that are very quick to empathize with the man that is about to rightfully pay for the ultimate crime of being judge, jury, and executioner; And they can have their opinions. I have a daughter and I don’t know how you can survive the lose of your baby, Terry Hough doesn’t and neither do these people that think they have the right to voice their ignorant opinions. I have been a police officer for 7 years and I have had every different shift and gone days with no sleep in disasters and as a first responder who is trained to react to help the injured in spite of no sleep there is NO excuse I am outraged that this man and others have the nerve to say he snapped because he had little sleep and they made to much noise!! You civilians out there may not no better but we do military, police, fire fighters, emergency workers, we above all other have no excuse seeing what we see and knowing what harm can be done. How many times in his career has he responded to the same scene he had caused? He knew better!!! For Hough to shoot those kids and then walk back into his house and wait for police? His true self was shown; that he knew they were lying there and he didn’t instinctively render medical aid says it all to me. He lost his temper, that is the long and short of it… boo who..I have been in situations where you’re in shock and you can’t believe what has happened around you, but we are trained to react on our training. I don’t care what he did his first 36 years, he took 3 lives and know matter what anyone says or does they wont come back. If I did something like that I would deserve the death penalty, not only for the lives I took but also for what I did to my family. That kind of selfishness is not deserving of anyone’s empathy. Mrs. Pfeiffer I can only imagine what it must take you everyday to get out of bed and I applaud your strength; And for the record if you want to make distasteful remarks towards that man I think you have more then earned the right to use words to express your anger and loss. Go ahead hun there are plenty of us out here that would not think any less and are cheering you on.

  30. elvie1016 August 8th, 2008 at 5:04 pm

OMG, I guess people just need to keep their mouths shut. You see, I am an iraq soldier, talk about going without sleep and living with stress. Chris, you have no idea what the hell you are talking about if you think you have stress. For someone who said other people don’t have a right to verse their opinion, you sure did a good job of it. In fact, let me just say this, I do not sympatize with that creep Hough. I thought he deserved the death penalty. But, perhaps, Mrs. Peiffer has the right idea, let him get assaulted. who gives a shit? My heart goes out to the children who were there for the first time. Only my opinion, guys. The trial has long been over. He got what they thought he should. I don’t agree, but that’s tough shit, isn’t it?

  31. elvie1016 August 8th, 2008 at 5:06 pm

What he should have gotten was the death penalty is what I meant to say.

Why do you people make remarks before you investigate or ask those who know.
These young people were completely innocent and without fault. Not even one neighbor complained about them or loud parties, ever! They lived there over 20 years but the Hough’s were fairly new, about 5 years and the last two of the 5 years the young people were mostly away.
****But, the main thing!!!! Anyone who saw Regina Hough on the Stand would be nut’s not to realize, she and she alone incited that mean bastard to kill those people. They seemed to be having problems in their own home and took it out on that family.

Yes, they will pay for what they did!

  34. Vskora September 2nd, 2008 at 7:58 am

I have read through all that everyone has to say. For those of you that believe Hough did the right think GO TO HELL!!! I was in the house that night this all happened. I lived at this house for about 10 years with my boyfriend Jacob and his family. For the record let me fill everyone in on a lot of things. First we were not “punks”. Jacob was attending school at the University of Akron, Katie was a college graduate who went to work everyday, Bruce was in the military, and had a job, I am a RN (who happens to work night shift) everyone there that night besides us is either and educated college grad, or seeking there degree. We were not the people you think of drinking selling drugs and playing the system. We were the victims of an asshole neighbor, who would never be happy. We did everything we could to make the guy happy and try to understand. Mr. Feichtner gave this man respect because he had two kids and he knew what it was to raise 3 kids on his own. (His wife was murdered). It was because of Mr. Feichtner, that we would turn off our radios to the car in the driveway, close our doors softly, and turn the headlights off just to name a few things to make this crazy man happy. I guess it was not enough. See we did not live a the house anymore, we came home to visit our friends in the area and spend some time together. It was July 4th. We spent the day with family and neighbors. So beacuse we had some firworks and some asshole did not like it, I now have to spend the rest of my life missing the man I love, missing my friends who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. (Bruce was never even at this house till that night, it was the first night he met some people). Just to let you all know I wish this upon no one, and anyone who says we deserved it, you live on day in my shoes and tell me that again. There is no reason that all friends and families of the Anderson’s, Feichtner’s, and Roby’s should be put through such a horrible thing. I do also feel sorry for the Hough children, they are stuck with a name from hell, and a mother who is as much to blame and the man who pulled the trigger. Do some research if you have any questions. We did not talk to much as a family, it was hard to deal with. You want these things to be privite, so you can greive. But I can tell you it was not a praty it was 6 couples hanging out and sharing the July 4th togther. It is supposed to be about freedom right. No longer will be for me, I will always thinking about seeing my friends, and the love of my life in a pool of blood. You tell me how can that be right.

God bless you and all the families.
I watched the Trial and it was obvious how truly good you guys were and just how “troubled” that trash Terrance was. It was obvious to many how much blame Regina must bear she obviously drove that animal to that horror he caused.
I feel like you guys are my neighbors and my thoughts and prayers will forever be with you.
Please try to be happy and make some kind of a life for yourself, that is what Jake would want.

I am from Pittsburgh, and was totally unaware of this entire situation until today, December 15th, 2008 when I read the story online. I would just like to say that the proper justice in this case was not, in my opinion, served. Terrance Hough should have died for this crime. HE deserved to die, why should he be spared after he callously took the lives of these young adults in the prime of their lives? Because he is a firefighter? Because he has two kids??? Those people who died will never see their family again, so why does it matter if he sees his two children again? WHAT MAKES HIM SPECIAL? Fuck that. That fucking bastard should have fried. And if I ever had the opportunity to, I would choke that piece of shit to death my self.

From an unbiased reader- FUCK HIM.

    Chris

  37. Penny C December 15th, 2008 at 9:53 pm

My sincere symphony goes out to Mr Hough’s mother. She pled for her sons life, due to his offsprings. I know at times of tragedy we think of only ourselves and loved ones, however, Mrs. Hough stated in her plea, “he’ll never see them again”. Mrs. Hough needs to be reminded of the victims that will never be seen by their loved ones again.

  38. Linda December 15th, 2008 at 10:56 pm

don’t feel sorry for the family at all. Hough knew what he was doing. It was July 4th for God’s sake. people make noise

  39. The way I see it.... December 16th, 2008 at 8:24 pm

I was just watching court TV and that Walsh guy….did anyone believe him? He was so fake I can’t believe anyone would believe him. He also looked like a vengeful punk.

As for Becky Pfeiffer, if you truly are someone’s mother….now I know that your kid probably was a punk….given he was raised by the likes of you….

  40. Anon December 17th, 2008 at 10:38 pm

I was horrified by Hough’s actions after shooting the victims and saying “Yeah” each time. He is a danger to society and should never be let loose from prison. Ironically, he won’t have peace and quiet and if he thought his neighbors were noisy, wait till he sees how noisy and how his privacy will be gone behind bars. I don’t know how his wife can stand behind him. I think the fact that he was a firefighter makes his crimes that much more egregious. He is trained to rescue people, not kill people. Perhaps the military would have been a more appropriate fit for him, there he could shoot to kill without repercussions.

  41. Lana December 18th, 2008 at 5:54 pm

Good for him, standing up for his family. Maybe police will react more when they are called to shut up such punks and brats as these GROWN ADULTS WERE. They were not sweet precious little children, they were loud piggish adults who felt they had every right to terrorize good people.
    GIVE HOUGH A MEDAL.

  42. Shelby December 18th, 2008 at 7:03 pm

LANA..yes you pos!! You should know what you just said will come back to haunt you!! The next time you cut someone off in traffic or get irritated at the post office or whatever slow line your in..remember the one behind you just might take a gun out & blow you away you piece of s**t!!

Even if those kids were doing whatever no human has the moral right to take anothers life!! It is clear your are barren female with no children because any MOTHER would never say the cruel inhumane words you just did on this forum!!

Yes give HOUGH a medal for COWARD OF THE CENTURY!! Big man knew what he was going to do & couldn’t even fight with his fist..had to use a firearm on kids..real hero for you huh..what kind of person are YOU?? You sound like al-qaida!!

God bless this families & their anguish..the grandchildren the mothers will never hold..but hough still gets to see his kids?!

He should be shot just like he did those kids!! Bring back the firing squad!!

  43. CJ December 18th, 2008 at 7:25 pm

Although I synpathise with the families who lost their kids, I can understand how this man could snap…. All too often a neighbor can make life near un-bearable with their constant disregard for those around them. Mr Hough will pay for his moment of rage, but so will the families who lost their kids…. The young man who was the neighbor of the Houghs, and his parents, also hold responsibility for this tragedy. How can you disregrard the years of “punk” behavior that led to this? How hard is it to understand that just because you seem to have no idea how their actions cannot drive someone to blind anger can lead to a tragedy like this? I have lived with neighbors for the last two years who also care nothing for the peaceful existence of those around them. Six dogs who continually bark, drunken parties that go on until early in the morning, many pleas for help from law enforcement that do nothing to help the situation, on and on… I have come so close on many occassions to “snapping”… Sleepless nights and days, and polite pleas from myself get nothing but responses to “f-off” etc… I guess many in society now simply expect people who suffer this intrusion into their life by others who have no regard for others, or simply have no respect for others but themselves, to up and move…. No, they shouldnt have been killed, but I also strongly believe it is time for parents to quit making excuses for their children when their children act like the spoied and doted kids they obviously are, and also show some remorse for not standing up and being PARENTS, and teaching thier kids to have SOME respect for others… This world is NOT all about them and THEIR gratification…….

  44. Dawn December 18th, 2008 at 7:27 pm

Have none of you people ever lived next to a bunch of loud, rude, obnoxious punks? Have you not had small children that can’t sleep because of someone else and then in turn you can’t sleep. You can’t go out in your own yard in peace, you can’t live inside your own home comfortably because there is always something going on with the neighbors. You try to get the police to help you over and over but they won’t. You try to talk to the neighbors and ask them to keep it down but they don’t ,they could care less about you ,after all the police don’t seem to care and aren’t going to make them stop and they clearly have no respect for anyone, they think its funny how they can do anything they want and get by with it. They enjoy making your life completely miserable. Imagine this goes on and on for years. Imagine the frustration. What do you do to stop this? You can’t move because of your job, the police won’t help, talking to them doesn’t help because they have no respect for adults that contribute to society, god knows they have had no parental guidance in their lives. What exactly do you do? Well, there will come a time when all your anger and frustration will come to head and maybe you don’t shoot someone, but somethings got to happen to stop it. Now if the police had done their job in the first place this could have been avoided, but they didn’t. Now I know if I had been the one jacking with these people for years the last thing I would have said to them when I saw one of them walking toward me with a gun is…what are you going to do shoot me? Go back in your house. That just showed the cockiness of this punk. He really thought he could do anything he wanted and no one was ever going to do anything about it. Well guess what? He pushed too far this night. Someone that night at that moment was so tired of his shit that he decided to end it. And he did. Now, the ones that didn’t die wants everyone to believe what an innocent little party they were having and they were such good people and watch me cry now; now that someone decided to finally take up for themselves, boo hoo . Bullshit….These were grown ass people that knew what they were doing and there wasn’t anything innocent about it. Now, it is a shame that someone had to lose their lives over this, but they did and it was only a matter of time. I know this trial is already over but if I had been on that jury there wouldn’t be a chance in hell I would have sentenced him to death either. If it was up to me he would have to spend a few years in prison, but that’s all. Hopefully the others have learned a lesson about what happens after you harass people for yrs and yrs….someone has to pay the price.

I haven’t read all the comments above, so I may or may not be repeating someone. From what I see the killers’ wife is probably just as much to blame. I believe that she was a constant source of nag for him to do something about any noise coming from them. It was said on Court TV that it was her who called the police on all the prior reports. So I can only imagine what could have been going on behind closed doors at the Hough residence for many years. Maybe, to the police, the Hough’s called them so many times for such small things that the Hough’s became to the police as” the little boy who cried wolf”. Terrence was probably well known at the police dept., due to him being a fireman and his wife a constant, angry complainer.

Tragedy all around, no one though deserves to die, not the young people he killed nor him. I feel he will wish he had got the death penalty by the time the other prisoners are done taking turns at his back side.
He not only took the kids life and took them away from their familys, but he has forever lost his family and freedom also. I feel his wife had alot more to do with edging him on then what came out in the court room. She had alot of hate and anger in her, she said he was up in bed we will never know the truth my feelings and proably alot of others proably think she went upstairs and told him to get his azz down stairs and tell them kids to stop making noise that she could not hear the tv. She could have told him to just scare them with the gun, and when the one boy made the comment it sent the firefighter fighting and he fired the gun. That is why he came and and told her sorry.

It was said that the wife has filed for divorce “to protect his pension and their assets”. And that there were many marital problems. Guess who is making out like a bandit!

There is absolutely no justification to kill people because you are annoyed. That is why our society is becoming so scary. People think its justified to kill someone because they annoyed you? This country in general seems to be turning more terroristic and uncivilized and its very disconcerting. Patience, long suffering and forgiveness has gone out the window as far as most people are concerned.

I think extremely selfish people who have no tolerance for other human beings and no conscience are able to justify that it is okay to kill somebody because they were too loud or they annoyed you in some way. This was 4th of July and everyone knows this is a noisy night. If Hough was smart , he would have worn earplugs and pulled the drapes or something. What’s scary is that he had children. I wonder what he did when they were a little noisy? Maybe they are already traumatized by their own father and better off without him being around now.

My sympathy goes to the family of all the victims, who were taken so young. This firefighter acted like he had the authority to give people the death penalty for annoying him and should never be let out of jail EVER.

I know just how Terrence Hough feels. I, too, had awful noisy neighbors and they did everything they could to provoke us with their loud music, constant barking dogs, screaming brats, balls coming in the yard, etc. We finally moved. It may have cost us plenty to start over, but well worth it to be rid of the ignorance that we had to endure. All we wanted was a little peace and quiet and now we have it. Oh, and by the way, we were in the neighborhood first and these bastards moved in with their day care centers, etc, and took over the damn neighborhood. They might want to know about this case and what happened to the Hough’s neighbors! Who knows, could happen to them next. I agree with “Dawn”. She sounds like a good neighbor to have.

The people leaving comments sympathetic to Hough are the same type he is - self-important, self-centered, self-righteous, self-absorbed, SELFISH. He thought the world owed him something, that everyone else should bend to whatever he wanted. Each and every desire and demand must be met, just because HE decided he wanted it.

Watching this trial, I got chills at how similar he was to my next door neighbor where I previously lived, a street with houses close together, he lived alone amidst families with kids and dogs. He constantly called the cops, for kids sitting on their porch talking, for kids bouncing basketballs on their own property, for our dog barking INSIDE our house if it was one minute after 10 pm, and even dragged me into court over it.

He made it clear he felt he had the right to not hear any noise he didn’t want to hear, even on holidays. In my 11 years of living there, he never once had a visitor or anywhere to go on holidays. One year we had a big family barbeque for my son’s birthday, we set up tables and chairs in the backyard in the morning, so it was obvious we were going to entertain in the afternoon. He waited until our yard was full of guests, and THEN began mowing his yard to disturb the party (this was before we had the dog, so it was just spite for no reason, not retaliation for any previous incident).

He did it because he simply had the “right” to mow his lawn; it would never occur to him to be neighborly and considerate of others, but then he got irate when kids made the normal noise that kids make.

Anyway, seeing this trial made me realize that if he had become obsessed with guns as Hough did, he might have “snapped” and shot not only our dog but us or a bunch of kids as well. In fact, when my dog was 3 years old, he began having epileptic seizures, and the first time it happened, we had no idea what was happening, he lay on his side panting and jerking and foaming at the mouth. My very first thought was, “Mr Takis poisoned him!” This sort of person really is a ticking time bomb.

I’m glad he didn’t get the death penalty, because that would have given him the peace and quiet he felt he so richly deserved. Much more fitting for him to spend the next 40 years or so in the general population of a crowded, noisy prison, where he gets told what to do and has to bow to authority and has NO control over anything, which to a controlling bully is living hell. 24 hour NOISE and lights and may he never get a good night’s sleep ever, ever again.

Murderers are top of the food chain in prison. Hough will be just fine.

  52. Staycalm December 20th, 2008 at 10:10 am

There is enough sympathy and empathy to go around for ALL of the victims families and even for Hough’s familes. What a tragedy!

Let’s face it people- I hate to say it-but Terry Hough obviously DID snap! There is no doubt that he did. However- most murderers do SNAP when they commit horrendous crimes of hate and rage. I doubt Terry went to bed that night July 4th-planning on shooting or killing his neighbor and his friends. He was awoken-became enraged and shot to kill. He was WRONG and deserves punishment. He lost it ALL rational thought at that point-and killed 5 innocent people and he might as well killed himself too that night.

I do NOT think that Terry Hough had time to plan out and calculate his killlings. Even the timeline that was described in his trial does not prove that even had enough time to pre-caluclate and design his shooting. He became enraged-grabbed a gun with intent to either scare those kids-and when Jacob dismissed him and told him to go back into his house-he snapped even more and shot everybody. This was not an act of calculation and design. The man was sleeping his bed just mere minutes before he shot his gun.

Nevertheless, his acts are horrifying and unforgiveable and he should be punished. I do not think that a man of no prior record of crime or violence-who happens to have been an upstanding citizen up to that point-should deserve the death penalty. I think that life sentence was justice served.

We are so quick to judge others. I think that there are far worse other criminals and murders that with no doubt deserve to be put to death! Is Terry Hough a murdereer? Absolutely-but the man DID snap and totally lost all sense of rationality-he went crazy! I don’t understand why there is so much question and a long drawn out trial to question whether he snapped or not?? Obviously he DID snap! But who cares??? I think that a lot of taxpayer money was wasted on a long trial-they shoudl have just moved straight into sentencing phase.

Also- I think that Hough’s lawyers were worthless in proving that he snapped. But whatever!

  53. Staycalm December 20th, 2008 at 10:14 am

i have to point out that Regina Hough (wife) is an idiot on the stand! If I was Hough’s laywers-I would never put her on the stand-she did no good whatsosever to help her husband’s case.

She is frustrating to watch and listen to. WTF??

  54. disgusted December 20th, 2008 at 10:15 am

Have any of you dipshits justifying Hough’s actions even read any of the earlier posts in this forum. Do you realize that you are saying it’s “okay” to shoot people in cold blood because you have had trouble with them as neighbors. Do any of you realize that these “punks” you are talking about were college educated, productive members of our society. One of the victims had been in the military. That was a hell of a way to thank him for serving our country Mr Hough. If anything we should hold our public servants to a higher standard than we do most of society. This means that they should set the example…not be told it’s “okay” to murder because you snapped. That man was a timebomb waiting to explode with a shrew for a wife. The minute he grabed that gun and walked outside it was premeditated. I hope those of you that find no problem with what Hough did have some whack job like him move next door to you. Then we’ll see how you feel when everyone tells you, the victim, how it was somehow your fault that your children were shot and killed by some psycho. That man should be fried. Ohio is a death peanalty state. I can’t think of a more deserving person than Terrance Hough.

  55. mc December 29th, 2008 at 7:20 pm

I had no idea Trutv shows old trials. I thought the Terry Hough one was current. I just assumed it was like Courttv, showing live or very recent ones. That really sucks.

  56. jackie January 10th, 2009 at 1:35 pm

well, it takes all sorts to make this world go round, how dare you insult the victims mother, even if her kid was a punk, and I very much doubt that he was, you have just made her a victim, I guess the devil is living in you all as in Hough, may The Lord forgive you.

  57. jackie January 10th, 2009 at 1:41 pm

oh and by the way, lana and co, having a shitty nutty neighbor does not justify killing, but maybe you have killin on ya mind hey? Sorry to all the families who lost their ones, sorry there are people who can justify their deaths.

  58. Jen March 2nd, 2009 at 5:54 am

I just have to say to Cheila how sad your post made me.
My husband worked with Jake Feichtner at the InterContinental Hotel. Do you know how much he was loved by staff and guest alike? Do you know how many guests called the hotel from other countries to offer condolences? He was a top employee, not what I would call a punk.
We all were kids once and made bad judgement calls, but noone deserves to die for it.
I feel for the families, and also the family of Terrance Hough. They are suffering as well.
Cheila, have some grace, dignity & self respect and don’t disgrace yourself like that again. Maybe someday it will be your kids, friends, relatives who are killed for making noise. I think you need anger counseling, it seems that you have alot of pent up grief. Perhaps you’ll snap one day.

  59. I Have Had It July 22nd, 2009 at 2:16 am

Jen …. thanks for that post, it was well said and kind!

I do not intend to be so kind, call me classless!
Those of you discribing the victims as perpetual noise makers and sympathizing with Hough and his crazy wife need to do some investigation. Maybe even watch the Trial the next time it is on!

For those of you that choose to assume the victims always diserve are as nutty as Hough!
The rest of you evil, crazy mother fuckers are just nutless cowards.

Mr. Feichner said it all from the stand, Hough belonged in the country some place, not in the city where houses are on top of each other.

I have always told my kids to watch out, forget pride, do whatever…..because there are some crazy mother fuckers out there!
Hough and his wife are evil pukes!
The Feichtner boy seemed like a sweetheart with a lovly girlfriend! And Bruce and Jen were innocent victims of an evil animal!
Shame on all you liberl evil freaks!
God bless the victims and their families!
