The Association of Angel Fire Property Owners (AAFPO) will soon choose three new board members. There are six candidates for the three open positions.
Members in good standing should have received by now a ballot and biographies of the candidates. The board, in an effort to increase the number of votes cast, has voted to award to one lucky voter an amount equal to one base membership, but only if enough votes are filed to establish a quorum.
Members voting by mail should cast their vote on the ballot they received in the mail, posting it in time to arrive in Angel Fire by June 9, 2008.
Members wanting to vote in person may do so at the membership office (see Maren Smith) prior to June 14 or at the Annual Membership Meeting June 14. For more information, call the membership office at 377-4260.
The six candidates include:
Lloyd âPeteâ Peterson Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Peterson retired from the U.S. Navy after twenty years as a Senior Chief Aerographerâs Mate â a âweatherman.â He graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago with a degree in Business Administration. Peterson moved to Angel Fire full time in March 2006.
He has served on numerous boards and committees, with âone of the most gratifyingâ the 14 years he served on the board of Rebound, Inc., a halfway house for young men in northern Illinois. He is a past member of North Chicago Rotary for 25 years, where he twice served as president. He is also a past president of Lake County Association of Life Insurance Agents.
Peterson is an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Gurnee, Illinois, and served as congregation president twice.
Since moving to Angel Fire, Pete and his wife Diane have been very active at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, where they co-chair the Servant Event program, which each year brings approximately 70 youths to spend a week in Angel Fire. Lloyd and Diane have three children, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Peterson says, âIf elected I will serve with experience and enthusiasm.â
